BLOCONOMIC has organised a blockchain expo to bring together regional and international stakeholders in the blockchain community. The event is held at Le Meridien, Putrajaya on the 15th and 16th August 2019, with an attendance of 1,000 coming from 30 different countries.
Organized by Alphacap Berhad in collaboration with Malaysia Blockchain Association, the events focus on topics such as talent growth, new innovative project, and partnerships between various institution and organization.
“We need to focus more on creating awareness amongst the public on the importance of blockchain technology”, said the Minister of Entrepreneurship Development, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan bin Md Yusof, during his opening speech.
“I was told that when a particular industry adopts blockchain technologies, they are able to boost productivity to about 15 – 20%. We cannot just take this for granted, leave it by the wayside and forget about blockchain technology,” Redzuan further added.
Currently working together with organizations such as DASH, MaGIC, MDEC, Vietnam Blockchain Club and many more, BLOCONOMIC aims to turn Malaysia into ASEAN pit-stop for blockchain-related businesses.
The event saw the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the ministry and MBA, to facilitate the growth of the blockchain industry, and to further bolster the public-private partnership within the community.
“There is a lot of noises surrounding blockchain technology recently. When the Malaysian public think about blockchain, they will only think about cryptocurrency. But there is so much more to blockchain that just that. We need to properly educate the community regarding this topic,” said Dzuleira Abu Bakar, CEO of MaGIC.
