We’ve come to the month of June and you know what that means. It’s the glorious durian season!
Throughout Malaysia from May to July, there’ll be durian orchards, farms and stalls offering you their best durians picks.
But with so many choices out there, how do you locate them and make your pick?
Here comes the advertisement by Maxis SME and Bao Sheng Durian Farm. Presenting a light-hearted ad entitled ‘New Ways of Working: 6-inch durian farm becomes an empire’ for durian lovers out there. It is already going viral with 200, 000 views and 2, 000 shares on Facebook.
Calling his business, the 6-inch Orchard, we’ll learn how Ah Seng dominates the durian trade in Malaysia through this entertaining ad.

Ah Seng nailed it in the durian trade. Why?
Well, you can try to enter keywords like ‘durian’ and ‘Malaysia’ and Bao Sheng will be on the first page of the search results. I’ve tried searching for other possible durian websites in Malaysia but to no avail. Ah Seng by far is the first durian entrepreneur that has made a good use of the Internet and digital technology.
And Ah Seng is the first to use www.durian.com.my and bought the domain in 1995! This definitely tells you that Ah Seng is far-sighted man, foreseeing Internet will take over the world.
No doubt then, www.durian.com.my makes his business stands out from his competitors. In the SEO and marketing competition, Ah Seng has won. Sorry, durian entrepreneurs.

Bao Sheng Durian Farm on Google Map
For durian business like Ah Seng’s where your customers need to be physically at your business venue to pick and purchase your durians, you need to pin point your business location.
I don’t think many business owners realise the importance of pinning your location down onto virtual maps.
You can always share the wordy address to your customers but from my own experience, most of the time it is not accurate and gets you off track due to absence of map-pinning.
When you officially pin your location down onto maps like Google Map, Waze and TripAdvisor, your customers can easily find you without getting lost.
Even the foreign traveller in the ad managed to find Bao Sheng Durian Farm once Ah Seng shared its location via WhatsApp.
Anytime, anywhere

It’s true. We transcend time and space once our business goes online.
Being able to work anytime and anywhere, Ah Seng can manage his business during his leisure time: from handling bookings (Bao Sheng Durian Farm offers homestays) while he’s fishing to answering any inquiries while he’s in bed.
Running his entire business on phones, tablets and laptops, he’s both physically (at his orchard) and virtually (at his website) present for his business, doubling his success and profit rate.
