FIABCI MALAYSIA CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT 2016

KUALA LUMPUR – Orang Asli children are the most marginalised race in Malaysia. For many years, they live in the jungle, traditional survival skills such as hunting and fishing passed on generation by generation. Formal schooling is what seems to be a dream within a dream to them.

Feeling the urge to help these Orang Asli children, FIABCI Malaysian Chapter has been organising charity golf tournament since 2007 in support of SEMOA (Strategic Education Method and On-going Advancement), a centre that houses the Orang Asli children, take care of them, feed them and send them to nearby schools.

Under the care of SEMOA, 80 Orang Asli children have been gathered in the centre and they have achieved great performance in school, especially in the sports area as they are the natural athletes.

Over the years, FIABCI Malaysia has donated various items to SEMOA, which includes daily rations, dormitory bedding essentials, school essentials such as uniforms, stationeries, and cash. However, this is not enough to support the huge monthly expenses of the centre which costs up to RM30,000 per month to take care of 80 Orang Asli children. Furthermore, they are expanding the centre to accommodate more Orang Asli children so that more children can go to school. Therefore, FIABCI Malaysia organises charity golf tournament annually to raise fund for this worthy cause.

This year, the Charity Golf Tournament targets to raise RM1 million for SEMOA to support their expansion plan. The Charity Golf Tournament will be held on 27th July 2016 (Wednesday), at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort.
