In the industry for more than 20 years, Bernard Chandran earns the title of Malaysia’s King of Fashion.
Returning home from Paris upon graduating, he aspired to start his own fashion line and “to be the Chanel of Malaysia”.
With a mixed parentage background of Indian and Chinese, and growing up in Malaysia, he was exposed to rich cultures. Thus, you can see his design is a mix of Asian cultures, blend of daring and yet, stylish.
Even Lady Gaga has donned one of Chandran’s designs which she wore a for her interview with Jay Leno
The fashion designer has expanded massively with stores in Malaysia and France.

The award-winning fashion designer is known for her signature avant-garde and a mix of contemporary and vintage designs. You can see in Melinda’s design, there is a blend of local traditions and bohemian qualities.
Melinda’s design has three distinct fashion lines that cater to different fashion styles: Melinda Looi Couture for couture, Melinda Looi Prêt-à-Porter for evening gown and MELL for casual wear. They are sold in Malaysia as well in boutiques throughout Europe, Australia and the Middle East. Her recent addition is a line known as MELL BASICS which consists of basics made from certified Organic Cotton.
