The last year or so has been a tad bit tricky for businesses all around the world. Many companies, including education institutions, adapted the work-from-home culture to continue operating amidst a global viral outbreak.
Things were not that different at Canon. While the global leader in photographic and digital imaging solutions were busy improvising and looking for ways to seamlessly implement the work-from-home culture in the company itself, Canon also understood that their customers will be needing them and their solutions now more than ever.
“Under this new norm we have to stay relevant, so we have strengthened our online marketplace strategy on both Lazada and Shopee to stay connected with our customers and ease their experiences when they’re on the lookout for Canon products”, explains Sandy Lee, Assistant Director of the Consumer System Products (CSP) Division at Canon Marketing Malaysia.
Canon has also initiated a brand-new loyalty programme where customers get to verify the legitimacy of the toners that they purchase. “Apart from that, customers can register and accumulate points from their purchase of genuine toners. With the accumulated points, they could redeem for rewards, such as Touch n’ Go e-wallet credits or selected Canon products like the instant photo printer , camera and calculator. This is one of our ways to thank the customers for their loyalty with the brand”, says Sandy.
Canon believes that the nine new ink tank system printers that they have planned to launch in the last quarter of 2020 all the way to the first half of 2021 is here to fulfil their customers’ needs as they still try to get used to the new normal. “Not only does our new ink tank system encourage customers to maximise productivity, but they also gets the job done more economically and efficiently”, Sandy explains.
The new ink tank system comes with a spill-proof ink bottle that is cleverly designed to not only allow users to complete the entire unboxing and setup process in mere minutes, but also helps keep the workstation clean and mess-free.
As for their current strategy in providing solutions to their customers’ daily struggles amidst the MCO. “We have a mini projector to cater to some of our customers’ virtual meeting needs. We also have battery-powered portable printers, that is the PIXMA TR150, for customers who are always on-the-go so they’d be able to print materials from almost anywhere through their smartphones, ” Sandy explains.
With the recent mass approach of digitalisation due to the pandemic, Sandy believes it is important that businesses know their core system and processes, so they’d be able to digitalise their businesses more effectively and protect themselves from future disruptions.. “In the current market, it’s also very important for SMEs to collaborate with partners for future benefits,” she pointed out.
Although Canon took some time to work their way around the new normal, their surging sales trend exhibits that the work-from-home culture has widely contributed to the demand of office appliances at home. From a 9 – 5 professional’s needs all the way to a primary school student’s needs, Canon has got us covered. We believe that with the new routine that is upon us, Canon is set to continuously be a one-stop business solution provider so that “Business Can Be Simple” for their customers nationwide.
