MediCap committed to reforming country’s modern medical landscape

A one-stop healthcare hub MediCap Sdn Bhd (MediCap) was founded in 2017 to introduce a new medical concept that combines modern medicine and non-invasive medicine using medical science as a common ground.

MediCap founder and executive director Lim Chin Hau said the company’s first 3-in-1 concept healthcare centre was established in 2019 in Sibu, Sarawak.

“The healthcare centre was dedicated to providing our comprehensive healthcare services to local people. Within three months, Medicap has grown rapidly with the opening of our second location in Sarikei, following interest from local investors who were impressed with our business model and concept,” he told Entrepreneur Insight recently.

Looking back on his venture as an entrepreneur, Chin Hau said the dream of pursuing a career in the medical field started when he was 15.

“In 1995, my father was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer. However, because there was no sufficient access to medical facilities for cancer treatment in my hometown Kelantan those days, my father had to travel to Penang for his cancer treatment which often take up to a few weeks or even months before returning home.

“There’s still a vivid memory that whenever my father returned home after a long journey for his treatment, it even led to more physical weakness and a poor recovery process. At that moment, I became aware of the inaccessibility and inconvenience of healthcare facilities and the lack of proper post-treatment care, which prevented many patients from achieving the ideal state of recovery and even jeopardised the patient’s well-being. The entire experience had had a significant impact on me, especially after my father passed away,” he said.

Delving further, Chin Hau said as the pandemic outbreak began in early 2020, the healthcare sector became the town’s hot topic and achieved blossoming growth.

“Pivoting from the traditional healthcare system, MediCap offers a one-stop healthcare hub that includes a general clinic, dialysis rehabilitation, skin care, dental care, and a non-invasive wellness centre.

“We focus on helping our patients from the diagnosis procedure, the diseases, and illnesses treatment until the process of recovery and proper post-treatment care,” he said.

The 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneurs 2022 recipient said he planned to bring MediCap to a greater height within three years from now.

“In 2020, I have managed to lead MediCap to accomplish its three core strengths namely medical expertise, wellness services and expansion in scale.

“Since medical and health care industries are significantly interrelated and have extensive coverage, the integration of the three sectors, namely medical, health care and tourism, has gradually emerged in recent years.

“Taking advantage of this opportunity, MediCap is planning and proposing to build a wellness retreat to drive new business opportunities in the market. MediCap has been building up its strengths for a long time, and with its humanistic philosophy and accumulated experience, it has a promising future in the flourishing medical industry.

“We are committed to reforming Malaysia’s modern medical landscape, hoping to bring more convenience and benefits to the people through improvements and innovations in medical science, combining modern medicine with non-invasive medicine,” he added.
