Jefto Consultants PLT (Jefto Consultants) was established in 2018 and is led by Tony Fong, with a dynamic team with extensive experience and knowledge in the legal field.

The legal firm now operates in several states including Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Penang through various partners namely Lee & Partners, Milavieri Chong and Partners, Peng Ann Law firm and SY Cheong & Partners.

As the managing partner of Jefto Consultants, Tony said the firm believes that ‘honesty is the best policy when money is in it’.

Elaborating further, he said Jefto Consultants became an important instrument for him to deliver justice as well as optimisation in the perspective of finance to the entrepreneurs.

“From my experience, emphasising on financial knowledge and marketing is just as important as our legal skills. It provides an extra edge for us and our clients. I believe by equipping these methods it’ll will allow our clients to optimise their business on goings while tackling with legal procedures.

 “Especially for start-ups, most of them have near to zero legal knowledge. We aim to protect them with our understanding in our sector. One of the first and most important challenge for the clients will be to recognise which law firms emphasises and has the most experience on the particular situation which they are in. Many of them will choose their lawyers based on recommendations and fame instead of in depth research towards a lawyer’s experience”.

One of the best examples will be equity crowdfunding, “ it’ll be much safer to engage with an experienced lawyer who  can provide a higher quality contract which contains financial knowledge clauses within. Contracts which not only focuses on the parties rights, but also the stability of a project.All of these requires financial knowledge and discussions with accounting firms”.

The trust between the society towards lawyers can also be strengthened when the lawyers are able to provide an extra view from a business perspective. Our team are always open to meetings and trainings which empowers them to have extra knowledge from the financial point of view.

One of Jefto’s  vision is to handle the case as peacefully as possible among all the parties involved. It must be noted that the financial crisis and the peak of the recession are estimated to be at their peak by 2023. We will only encourage legal lawsuits whenever it is deemed necessary. Due to it’s tedious procedure and high cost.

“Most sectors will suffer financially with the majority part being the SMEs. Meanwhile, the legal sector must stand up and play a role in assisting society when the recession comes,” he said.

The 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneur 2022 (100 MIYE) recipient said in the following three years, the firm intended to keep extending its services to include various consultations, such as crypto law.

“Blockchain technology is becoming an upcoming trend and will play an even more crucial role in our world, with the bear market being estimated to be within one and half years. Meanwhile, the society can take up the chance to learn more about it.

“We are getting ready to enhance our knowledge in the ever-changing crypto law. We are also aiming to be the first legal consulting firm to provide in the metaverse,” added.

Tony went on to say that he, too, encountered a mistake when starting his entrepreneurial journey.

“The largest mistake during my entrepreneurship journey was the lack of checks and balances in my first business. One of our partners committed embezzlement. Our company had a loss of 6 figures and lost 70 per cent of our client base.

“Thankfully, we were able to overcome the crisis and is now operating all across Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.

“On the other hand, my 5 years of experience have taught me about financial knowledge such as cost control and the capability to provide business development.

“It has given me a new perspective on how businesses operate from the financial point of view while being in the legal sector,” he added.
