The demand for talent in the information technology (IT) sector has always been significant around the globe. Many young talents are being scouted to serve in the sector, not only in their hometowns but also on an international level.
A similar story could be heard from Chan Wai Mun who began his journey in the IT sector in Singapore after graduating from university.
Since Wai Mun had always wanted to do something that could benefit the local society within his means, he did not hesitate to come back to Malaysia after two years of being abroad, to start his own business in the IT sector thus contributing to the nation’s economy.
The chief executive officer of W Tech Software said despite knowing that his entrepreneurship journey would not be a smooth sailing one, he will continue to strive and position his company to be one of the best IT providers in the South East Asia region.
W Tech Software is a leading IT provider inclusive of one-stop Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions. With IIoT in mind, W Tech Software’s Industrial IoT Platform is equipped with automated machine data gathering and production analytics, allowing it to deliver data-driven insights in seconds. In addition, W Tech also provides reliable and cost-effective services such as Blockchain Solutions, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, and Web and App Development.

As one of the 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneur 2022 recipients, Wai Mun said his business means a lot to him as it serves as a place to gather local talents and provide digital transformation for his clients.
“Our motto is “Your transformation is our pride” and we always put clients as our priority. In the next three years, I hope we would be able to receive more recognition and awards for our company.
“To achieve this goal, we are developing additional IT solutions such as IIoT Solutions and Data Analysis to expand our business opportunities. In addition, we also offer more IT services to our clients to generate more value and revenue,” he told Entrepreneur Insight in an interview recently.
When asked if he had made any mistakes since starting the business, he replied that the biggest mistake he had done in the past was not having a proper plan before executing a project.
“I was too confident, which cost the business a lot of money and time. However, through the experience, I learned that as a decision-maker, I have to always think carefully before making a decision, never overestimate myself, and always keep things in perspective.

“I’m inspired by entrepreneurs who achieve great things while also giving back to society. As a result, it has always been my desire to succeed and give back to my country I believe in making people’s lives better, and my vision is to assist all SMEs in the country in digitalizing and automating their businesses,” said the aspiring businessman who looks up to his parents as a mentor.
Wai Mun added that wants to develop more leaders with strong leadership skills to join his management team and create a commission scheme based on completed projects and value.
“We hope our employees are having a good time at work. Despite this, we are still working hard to make these plans a reality,” he concluded.
