Globally acclaimed gaming and lifestyle giants Razer have launched their Malaysian HQ in UOA Corporate Towers, Kampung Kerinchi. The famed gaming peripheral makers also named the encouraging response RazerPay, an e-wallet service, has seen in Malaysia, the first country to launch the service,as a factor that encouraged Razer to name the Malaysia HQ as the regional office.

With over 500,000 signups on the RazerPay platform already, Razer CEO Tan Min-Liang said that “This is a country that is hungry for technology, hungry for innovation and one that is willing to understand what is cashless economy. We are aiming to become the largest e-wallet in Malaysia.”

Aside from fintech, Tan also hinted that several “mega investments” were in the pipeline should Razer’s plan work out smoothly. Having previously committed to matching the Malaysian government’s RM10 million allocation for esports development, Razer will also be committed to helping develop the local esports industry, including looking to support Team Malaysia in the SEA Games 2019 esport categories.

“As the Southeast Asian games have six medals ready for esports, it is time for us to nurture Malaysian players going into the international scene and bring glory back to the country for excelling in esports,“ Tan explained, adding that “Razer is going to be doubling down and investing right here in Malaysia, we want to not just build esports athletes, but shout-casters, YouTubers, Twitch streamers, all of that.”
