“I learned that it takes along time to grow a business, but it even takes a longer time to make money from a business”, said AIM Solutions Group Berhad’s Group Managing Director, Mohd Najib bin Haji Mohd Noor. Struggling to find partners that are compatible with the nature of his business when he first started, Mohd Najib mastered the art of being realistic and patient when it came to managing his expectations.
Mohd Najib is also the Chairman of Koperasi Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Berhad (Koop Sahabat), and the Deputy Chairman of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM). He was initially exposed to entrepreneurship at the tender age of 14 years when he attended ‘Program Pembangunan Usahawan Muda’ which then tapped into his interest for the entrepreneurial world. In addition to being an entrepreneur, Mohd Najib is also a technopreneur, sociopreneur and artrepreneur.
“One of my biggest mistakes was that I was expecting success right away from my business. I was too confident, although I shouldn’t have expected for the results right away”, he said. As he learned how to transmute all of life’s trial and errors into valuable lessons, Mohd Najib now owns a business that helps with digitalising their partners and aspiring micro-entrepreneurs as they align themselves with The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) digitisation.
Upon being asked on what AIM Solutions Group’s focus is, Mohd Najib explains, “we offer e-commerce platform to these aspiring micro-entrepreneurs where they can promote, advertise and sell their products and services while establishing business networks in the business chain ecosystem throughout Malaysia”. For unprecedented times like this, AIM Solutions Group Bhd offers digital solutions through digital platforms and mobile applications with the aim to allow micro-entrepreneurs to continue operating normally, regardless of situational circumstances.
With a sense of respect and admiration for SpaceX’s founder Elon Musk, who also co-founded PayPal, Mohd Najib believes that entrepreneurs like him are driven and inspired with the need to succeed and control their own destiny. “Owning a business gives me no limitations on the profit and opportunities that I can gain”, he explains. “Entrepreneurship allows me to do what I love while helping others while I’m at it”.
Work-life balance is still a very sticky topic for Mohd Najib to pursue. “Nevertheless, I believe in quality as opposed to quantity. So, when I am at home, I make sure I am 100% present and spend quality time with my family. Similarly, when I am at the office, I give my 100% so that I have a productive day at work”, he said.
According to Mohd Najib, setting the objective right with a solid business plan is a must for budding entrepreneurs. Besides a positive attitude, he emphasises on surrounding yourself with like-minded people as you build your team on the way up.
“Three years from now, we’re looking for AIM Solutions Group to be the market leader in The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) ecosystem, while embracing enhanced technologies and expanding our market share”, Mohd Najib visualised. He further elaborated that the vision can only be achieved with the right infrastructure and strategy.
