Introduction to Malaysia’s Largest Internet Café Chain
As part of Entrepreneur Insight News series, we look at the story of Malaysia’s largest internet café chain – Orange Esports Café.
Orange Esports Café was Malaysia’s largest internet café chain with over 56 stores, now it ranks 4th among Malaysia’s top esports venues, according to a 2025 ranking by KITAMEN Esports Solutions. In the article, they were highly praised for their high-spec PC meetings, gaming, and IT needs. Since 2011, their affiliate – Orange Esports have been organizing events and supporting talented Malaysian players to compete at international levels.
The Man Behind Orange Esports Cafe – Frank Ng
Ng Shun Ming (Frank) owns the Largest Electronic Sports venue with his flagship store “Orange Esports Stadium” in Malaysia with 238 PCs. Our very first professional meeting with the pioneer of the internet café industry was conducted in a modest setting. Throughout the course of our interaction, we found Frank to be an extremely hardworking and intelligent person, with qualifications in professional engineering and master in business administration.
Traits Defining Frank’s Leadership
Vision
When gaming facilities were first introduced, Frank had high visions to make gaming PCs and internet accessible to everyone and everywhere in Malaysia. Every decision he made while managing the company was filled with clear passion and tenacity. This makes absolute sense considering how he is a perfectionist and someone that seeks constant improvement to make changes for the better.
Hard Work
We believe one of the core factors behind Frank’s success was his strong work ethic. From Mondays to Fridays (9am to 5pm), he has never missed a day of work. His employees respected his high levels of perseverance, even through highs and lows, he would push through them. Moreover, his personality allows him to form critical opinions – a rather high-value skill to possess, if we do say so ourselves, as it helps with making more informed decisions. He is a strong representation of a proactive leader that solves problems faster and more efficiently to make room for more tasks to be completed within a short timeframe.
Resilience
In Hong Kong, we took part in a 100km Oxfam trail walk along with Frank. The mission was to complete it in 48 hours with Frank completing it within that timeframe. On the other hand, we were unable to finish the course on time although we were 15-20 years younger than him. This experience showed us how much a positive mindset and focus can help achieve most things in life. Frank also taught us an important lesson where positive characteristics tend to influence the people around us.
Our Thoughts
No one is perfect in this world, but we can clearly feel his passion in business growth and making everything perfect. Frank’s vision is also our vision, and they also serve as an inspiration to the entrepreneur community. As his subordinates, we will try our best to make things perfect. We stand by your outlooks in life and strive to raise the bar of the company. As always, thank you for showing us that nothing is impossible in life, it is either you make it happen or not.
